This depends on the size of your space and the look you’re going for, but here are some simple guidelines:

General spacing: For walls, hedges and building facades, we recommend placing uplights 1–2 metres apart.

• 1 m spacing = more dramatic, continuous colour
• 2 m spacing = softer, more economical coverage

Typical event spaces: In dining rooms, reception lounges and function spaces, a 2 m spacing usually works well. As a rough guide, a 20–30 m wall will typically need 12–16 uplights.

Using multiple colours: If you plan to use alternating colours (e.g. every second light a different colour), opt for more units rather than fewer for a fuller, more even effect.

You can absolutely change both the colour and the mode. There are three control options:

1. Remote control
The included wireless remote is the easiest option. You can select from preset colours, choose different colour-changing and fade modes, and adjust basic settings quickly with no setup.

2. Phone app [COMING SOON]
For more advanced control, use the companion app. This allows you to create custom colours, build and save colour sequences, and adjust the speed of colour changes and the overall brightness. First-time users should allow around 15–20 minutes to follow the instructions, connect, and get familiar with the features.

3. Wireless DMX
For professional setups, the lights can also be controlled via wireless DMX using compatible third-party controllers. This is recommended for experienced users or production companies who are already familiar with DMX lighting control.

Battery life depends on the colour, mode and brightness you choose.

At 100% brightness, you can expect around 8–12 hours of run time when using single static colours or slow colour‑changing fades, as the power draw is relatively low.

When using full white, or white colour‑temperature effects (warm to cool white), the power draw is much higher.

At full brightness, battery life is typically around 4–6 hours.

If you reduce the white brightness by about 25% (a change that is barely visually noticeable), the run time can increase to around 6–7 hours.

In general, reducing the brightness will proportionally extend the battery run time beyond these figures.

The Contour Uplight is designed to be bright enough for most event spaces while still being fully dimmable if needed.They throw a strong vertical beam up the wall and create a “pool” of light on the ceiling.

As a guide:

• Recommended ceiling height: up to about 5 m
• Approx. pool of light on the ceiling: around 1 m in diameter
• Vertical strip up the wall: roughly 30–60 cm wide

They work best when aimed at surfaces between 3–5 m tall. Brightness for static colours can be easily adjusted using the wireless remote.

In a dark room, you may want to dim them down if they feel too bright.

In a typical dining or reception room, they are bright enough to light a ceiling up to around 5 m high.

In very bright exhibition spaces with strong ambient lighting, expect effective coverage closer to about 3 m in height—or consider upgrading to our brighter Chroma or City Colour Uplights.

Almost anywhere. The Contour Uplight is ideal for lighting walls, columns, gardens, small trees and feature pieces.

Because it’s battery powered, rain-proof and built with a rugged housing, you’re free to move it around and test different positions until you find what looks best.

The built‑in angle bracket lets you easily tilt the light to get the perfect angle for a clean, contoured beam up your surface.
