Questions our customers ask
1. What’s the difference between the spotlight and a floodlight?
Our range of Spotlights create a narrower, more focused beam of light—ideal for highlighting small features, areas such as retails spaces or restaurants & bars. Floodlights spread light broadly across a space, making them great for larger area lighting like exhibition halls, outdoor spaces and stages. We offer both styles to suit a variety of event needs.
2. Are the flood and spot lights battery powered or plug-in?
All of our spot and flood lights are battery powered, with run times ranging from 6 to 12 hours depending on the model and settings. This makes setup completely hassle free—no cables to run, no power points needed. For longer events or specific needs, we also offer optional power cable add-ons for the Chroma Spot and City Colour Flood to extend their runtime.
3. Can I adjust the light colours or brightness?
Yes, all of the lights feature full colour control and adjustable brightness, making it easy to tailor the lighting to suit your event. You have the ability to choose from a wide range of colours, dim the brightness, or set them to dynamic colour-changing modes. All adjustments can be made using the included remote control, so you can fine-tune your lighting in real time without needing to touch the fixture.
4. Are your flood and spot lights easy to set up?
Yes, all our spot and flood lights are designed with DIY-friendly setup in mind. Being battery powered means there are no cables to run, which saves time and keeps your setup tidy. Each light comes pre-charged and ready to go—just place it where you need, switch it on, and use the included remote to adjust colours or modes. Whether you’re lighting a stage, garden, or dance floor, you’ll be up and running in minutes with no technical experience required.
5. Can I mount the spot or flood lights to walls or stands?
Many of our lights have the option of adding on clamps or stands and the Cubix Spot come with a built-in magnetic base, allowing you to securely attach them to metal surfaces without extra equipment. This versatility makes it easy to light up exactly what you need—whether it’s a feature wall, dance floor or performance area.
6. Are your lights suitable for outdoor events?
Yes, our flood and spot lights can be used for outdoor events. The Polymorph/Chroma Spot are rain-proof as well as the City Colour Flood. The Cubix Spot can also be used outdoors as long as they’re protected from direct rain or moisture.
They’re ideal for lighting up garden features, outdoor walls, marquees, or alfresco dining areas. Because they’re battery powered, you won’t need to worry about running extension cords across outdoor spaces. Just ensure the lights are placed in dry, sheltered spots or under cover. If you’re unsure which model is best for your outdoor setup, our team can help recommend the most suitable weather-safe options.
7. Do the lights come with a remote control?
Yes, all of our spot and flood lights come with an easy-to-use remote control included in your hire. The remote allows you to adjust brightness, switch between colours, and activate various lighting modes like fades or snap—all without touching the light itself. It’s a simple, intuitive way to customise your lighting setup in real time, perfect for events where you want to change the mood or theme throughout the night.
8. How many lights do I need to hire for my event space?
The number of lights you’ll need depends on the size of your space, the effect you’re after, and whether you’re using them for ambience or feature lighting. For smaller areas or highlighting a specific feature, two or four spotlights may be enough. Larger venues or outdoor spaces might require multiple floodlights to evenly illuminate the area. If you’re unsure, our team can help you work out the right quantity and mix of lights to suit your layout and goals.
9. How long do the battery-powered spotlights last?
Our battery-powered flood and spot lights offer a run time of approximately 6 to 12 hours, depending on the model and the brightness or mode you choose. This is ideal for evening events, parties, or functions that run into the night. You can switch them on and forget about them—no need to monitor power or swap out batteries during your event. For extended run times beyond 12 hours, we also offer optional power cable add-ons with select models like the Chroma Spot and City Colour Flood, giving you extra flexibility for longer setups.
10. Can I pick up the lights myself or do you offer delivery?
You can choose to either click & collect your lighting hire from one of our Sydney or Melbourne warehouse locations, or have your order delivered via courier straight to your home or venue. Click & collect is ideal if you’re nearby or want to save on delivery costs, while our courier service offers a convenient option if you’re short on time or need direct-to-door delivery. Simply select your preferred option during checkout.
