Questions our customers ask
1. What size disco balls do you offer for hire?
We offer 15cm, 20cm, 30cm, 50cm, 60cm and 75cm mirror balls for hire, suitable for everything from small house parties to large event venues. The 15cm - 30cm sizes are ideal for tighter areas or as decorative clusters, while the 50cm - 75cm options are best for larger dancefloors or stages. For more impact, you can even hire multiple mirror balls and motors together to amplify the effect across your venue.
2. Do I need a motor with my disco ball?
Yes, we highly recommend adding a disco ball motor to your hire. Motors rotate the mirror ball slowly to create that classic moving sparkle effect across your walls, ceiling, and dancefloor. Without a motor, the mirror ball will remain static and won’t produce the same dynamic lighting effect. All of our motors are compatible with our mirror balls, and they’re easy to hang and operate. You can select motor options when booking your hire package online or speak with us if you’re unsure what setup best suits your space.
3. What’s included with my disco ball hire?
Your hire includes the disco ball in your chosen size and optional add-ons like a motor, pinspot lights or hanging chains. Our packages are designed for easy DIY setup, so most customers can get everything up and running without needing a technician. If you’re unsure about compatibility with your venue, our team can help you choose the best combination of size, motor and lighting to create a great effect.
4. How do I hang a disco ball safely?
To hang the disco ball we recommend adding on either the hanging chain or motor then attach to a secure anchor point like a ceiling beam or truss. For safety, always ensure the mounting point can support the weight of the ball and motor combined. If you have any concerns about installation, get in touch with our team for guidance.
5. Can I use disco balls for decoration, not dancing?
Absolutely. Disco balls aren’t just for dancefloors—they work great as ambient décor too. Smaller 15cm - 30cm balls are often used in clusters, table centrepieces or hanging features to catch light and add sparkle. You can also combine different sizes for a layered, more artistic display. Whether you’re hosting a cocktail party, wedding or product launch, mirror balls bring a unique visual element without needing to go full disco.
6. Do you provide pinspots for mirror balls?
Yes, you can hire a pinspots to shine directly onto your disco ball, which is essential for getting that classic glittering light effect across the room. Without a pinspot light, the mirror ball won’t reflect light effectively. Our pinspots are compact, easy to mount, and designed to work with all ball sizes. We recommend pairing each mirror ball with at least one pinspot light —especially in darker venues or if you want to maximise visual impact.
7. Can I hire multiple disco balls for my event?
Yes, hiring multiple disco balls is a great way to create a more immersive lighting effect. You can hang them in clusters, stagger them across a venue, or mix sizes for visual interest. Our inventory allows for hiring multiple units at once, including matching motors and spotlights. This is especially popular for weddings, themed parties, and creative installations where sparkle and atmosphere are key.Â
8. Are disco balls suitable for outdoor events?
Mirror balls can be used outdoors, but you’ll need to ensure they’re protected from wind, rain, and strong sunlight. Outdoor use works best under covered areas like marquees, pergolas or tents where they can be safely mounted and lit.Â
9. Do I need special lighting to use a mirror ball?
To achieve the signature sparkle, a direct pinspot or focused beam of light is essential. Without a pinspot light, the mirror ball won’t reflect light around the room. We offer pinspot light options that are compact, powerful, and perfect for pairing with any mirror ball size. If you’re using your own lighting, make sure it’s bright and directional. For best results, place the light about 1.5–2m away and aim it directly at the ball.
10. Can I pick up the disco balls or should I get them delivered?
Yes, you’re welcome to pick up your mirror ball hire from one of our warehouses. We also offer a courier delivery service if you’d prefer it sent directly to your venue or home. For larger mirror balls (like 60cm or 75cm), we recommend using the delivery option, as they may not fit in a standard vehicle. You can see more about our courier service options here.
