The blue ER-20 earplugs are a regular fit and are designed to fit most smaller ear canals (you can gauge if you have large or small ear canals from your experiences with earbuds). If you think you have a larger sized ear canal, get the clear earplugs.
I've lost count of how many times I used to walk out of a nightclub and get stung with that horrible ringing sound in my ears before getting a pair of these. The Etymotic ER-20 Blue Earplugs are about the best quality set of earplugs you can get before stepping up to the personalised (and much more expensive) moulded ones. These one-size-fits-all models fit nicely (they feel like you're wearing inner ear earbuds), are barely noticed when you're wearing them, and most importantly they reduce the noise while preserving the sound quality. In effect, they turn down the noise that damages your hearing, but doesn't muffle voices, environmental sounds or music. We all tested this out in our DJ Warehouse JBL room by cranking up our loudest speakers and subs and you can still fully enjoy the music and hold a conversation at the same time. Essential.
