Had these for many years now... and while they dont look as 'fancy' as other brands "cough Pioneer HDJ1000s cough*, they certainly are more reliable, sturdy and have much crisper sound.
I wouldnt ever buy a different set of headphones.

The Dj world has always had strong vein of elitism, in some ways it’s healthy it gives you something to strive for. You want that dream gig in Ibiza, you want the exclusive guest list and back stage area at your local club set aside for you, and you want the hottest Girl/Guy in the club to think you are the hottest DJ they ever wanted to ...Um well you know how it goes.
Certain DJ equipment also fell into that elitist category. The Sennheiser HD 25 Headphones were definitely on that list. In a weird kinda way I felt I wasn’t a real DJ till I got my first set of HD 25’s. Thankfully I’ve grown up a bit since then (Not much though) and have learned there was a great deal of substance to the elitism given to the HD 25’s. Firstly they are a very well constructed, these headphones are designed to be with you for a very long time. I know DJ’s that have had a set for over 10 years! Each component is built to last, and I guess the price reflects this. Full Retail is $600.00!! But you can find them for $285.00 at DJ Warehouse (Shameless plug!). Another aspect is that each part can be replaced, much cheaper than buying a new set because a lead wore out or an ear pad fell off!
So what do you get when you buy into this world of headphone elitism? Firstly they feel good to wear, the headband has enough tension to hold on to ya noggin without feeling like your brains are being squeezed out, and the ear pads are soft and seal your ear nicely, and do a great job of blocking out the ambient noise of a loud club environment, meaning you can have your headphone level quieter which in turn means you hold your tinnitus at bay for a little longer!
Do they sound good? Yes? Would you use them as studio monitoring headphones? Hmm no. And here’s why: Because they are designed mainly to project over ambient noise i.e. a club system, they are loud, very loud! A lot of headphones are loud but what makes the HD 25’s different is that they are sonically very tight as well. Meaning the tops are crisp and the bass is punchy. This is great for getting a very Hi Fi listening experience but not ideal for honest reference in a studio environment.
These headphones are designed for the club and lets face it they want to be there it’s where they feel most at home. In my opinion there are no DJ headphones that come close to the Sennheiser HD25’s, some may look cooler but but for the true elitist the HD 25’s are the only choice!

This is another classic piece of DJ equipment that you should not hesitate to buy. I have my pair for over 7 years now. I have had to replace the cable and the earpads a few times, but that cost me less then $100 to make my HP new again. Worth every dollar!

The Sennheiser HD-25’s headphones are a must have for any type of musician. Whether you’re a DJ, in a band or a producer, the Sennheiser HD-25 headphones provide the clearest sound quality I have ever experienced. Their lightway frame and small ear muffs, makes you keep wondering if they are still on your head; as well as he extra long headphone cable makes it very easy to move around, especially in a DJ booth.
Overall I would rate these 10/10 for sound, design and maneuverability.

A solid, highly recommended set of headphones. Brilliant sound quality, remaining clear even at the most blisteringly high volumes. That combined with the excellent fit and sound isolation makes them great for even the loudest clubs. I've used these for a few years now and haven't found anything else better in my opinion.
All parts are replaceable which is very handy if you are going to be using them a lot.

I have had these headphones for about 4 months now and all I can say is that they are the best sound cancelling headphone I have ever used and have a great range of clear sound including deep bass. Basically there is no con’s.
I have been using them a lot, they are comfortable and light so whether your playing a 1 hour or a 4 hour set or even just mashing it up at home your guaranteed to play your best in comfort and style. They are bang for your buck, worth every penny.

the king of headphones - great response, great sound cancelling by Sam (Posted on 28/10/09)

HD 25s are what I use for mixing tracks down (audio engineer-style) when monitors aren't available, for DJing out and about, and for producing with (when the neighbours want me to be quiet).
They have a great frequency response and plenty of clarity. Whats more, they hug the wearer's head tightly and block out background noise - great for intense DJ monitoring in loud clubs/bars, but dangerous when walking about - you probably wouldn't hear a truck ; )
can't recommend these enough. looking about, they seem to be an industry standard, and it's a reputation they've gained for a reason.

Great Set of head phones, good quality sound, very loud which helps in loud clubs, in my opinion the only minor downfall is the size and of the size padding around headphones, large area and padding may be a little more comfortable and may also block out the external noises a little better. still great product!
