Besides including two 31-band channels of 1/3-octave equalization, the 231 also offers ±6 or ±12 dB boost/cut range; XLR, 20mm faders and 1/4" inputs; nonconductive nylon sliders; and an intuitive user interface with comprehensive output and gain reduction metering. So everyone always thinks why would i spend extra money on a brand name, when i could get an XYZ product, which does the same thing. Here's why...

DBX is a brand of the Harman Group, which worldwide is one of best quality controlled brands which is going around. Being stallwarts of the professional audio industry and creating some of the longest lasting value for money gear money can buy, the 231 is no exception.

If you're after a precise, great sounding 31 band EQ then this is the beast for you, it has a +/- 6db or +/- 12db boost or cut is very versatile for any application, be it studio or live performance.

It also posesses a 40hz low cut filter, so your eq'ing sounds clean and crisp without that flappy bottom.

With Jack or XLR inputs it will work with everything, and being DBX you know its an investment for now, as well as well into the future.

I've sold and recommended these to lots of my customers and they've all come back smiling, and given the price difference between a no-name brand and this, it doesn't make too much sense to not spend a few extra dollars...
