Serato Scratch Live V2.0 Public Beta now available!

Serato Scratch Live Version 2.0 is now available to download for public beta from the Serato website! It doesn't include 'The Bridge' yet but they've thrown in view changes, level meters and an effects rack giving you three channels of effects per deck. You can download the new public beta version here but be warned that it's best practice not to use the beta version out in public as there are still some minor bugs in the system to be ironed out. Alternatively, we've got the Beta version up and running in our Sydney store so just head down to see what the fuss is all about!

New Serato and Rane Products Announced!

Hold onto your hats out there guys – Rane and Serato have just changed the game once again! They have just announced the release of Serato Scratch Live version 2 (which includes the Serato-Ableton collaboration), a brand new Rane Mixer called Sixty-Eight and new Serato-Ortofon Needles!

We’re still waiting for the exact dates of everything, but it looks like the Beta version of Scratch Live 2 will be out in next week with the finalised version out in one month. Scratch Live 2 will be a free upgrade and will work with Serato SL1 (only $750) and Serato SL3 (only $865). Even more exciting is the release of the Rane Sixty Eight Mixer, which looks so solid that it has the potential to take out the industry standard for club mixers. We're still waiting on a price for it, but it's set to be released in April and you can find out more info here. Serato also announced a nice collaboration with Ortofon to produce Serato branded S-120 cartridges. The S-120s are set to be released in February so stay tuned to DJ Warehouse for more updates on price and availability!

Technics: Dead or Alive?

Last week, word spread like wild fire about rumours that Panasonic (the parent company of Technics) were to end production of the Technics 1200/1210 range of turntables. Known as an industry standard over the last few decades, this shocked the DJ community and they took to the forums and social networking sites to vent their outrage at Panasonic’s decision. Distributors in New Zealand and Russia also claimed that the 1200/1210s were being discontinued and the world’s DJ community shed a tear and poured out a glass for one of the most important brands in the world of DJing.

Then, to everyone's surprise word from Panasonic Australia claimed that they had been misinformed and that the Technics brand will continue for the foreseeable future. Distributors in the UK and Germany also denied rumours that Technics was coming to an end, solidifying that the Technics brand will continue to live on. We can’t release that sigh of relief just yet though, as there is still no official word from the Panasonic HQ on the life of the brand. In the meantime, we can only trust the word of Panasonic Australia and hope that Technics’ foreseeable future is a long one.

For anyone after Technics turntables, we are currently out of stock, but you can contact us to be placed on the waiting list for our next shipment, which is expected to arrive early 2010.

The Reloop RMP-3 really shouldn't just be called a CD player. While it plays CDs like any great CD player should, what makes this player stand out is that it's also capable of playing via USB or hard drive and can be used as a MIDI controller to control your DJ software of choice. As a CD player, it's a stand out unit with a responsive and heavy duty jog wheel, 8 of your favourite effects, and 4 cue points and 4 sampler pads. Best of all, they haven't gone and over complicated everything and the effects can simply be adjusted by 2 dimensions using the large jog wheel (about the same size as a Pioneer CDJ1000).
